Peter Lee is being listed as the father of Mary Lee on the basis of research done by Dennis Lee. I am waiting for
more documentation and the unwrinkling of a few details before I am assured enough to not include this note.
Peter’s death being in Kentucky is speculation. He moved a lot between several places.

Peter and his brother Mark traveled from Virginia, settled briefly in frontier Kentucky, then went down the Ohio
and Mississippi to Natchez, and settled in Louisianna. Peter had land on th4e east side of the Vermillion River,
just opposite the town of Perry, Louisianna.

Nathaniel was living at West and Shirley Hundred on 16
Feb 1623 and w as include in the muster of Shirely
Hundred, Charles Cittie, on 23 Ja n 1624. He reported
that he was age twenty years and had come to Vir ginia
on the “George” in May 1619.
Charles City was one of the four great corporations
set up by the Vir ginia Company of London in 1618. It
retained its original area whe n it became one the
eight shires (counties) in which Virginia was div ided
in 1634. Charles City County extended on both sides
of the Jame s River from James boundary was the
Chickahominy River.
The pioneer settlement in Charles City County were
actually plantatio n parishes, some of which were the
earliest in Virginia history. Th e first of these,
Charles City, was established about 1612 as a plac e
of “retreat against any forraigne enemy”, on the south
bank of bot h the Appomatox and James River, about
twenty-five miles above Jamest own, was founded by
Governor Thomas Dales as a part of his New Bermud as,
centerred about the parent settlement of Bermuda
Hundred. West a nd Shirely Hundred, of which Westover
plantation was a nucleus, becam e Westover Parish.
The parish extended to Charles Cittie, south of t he
James; by 1643, this part of the parish became Bristol
Parish.
Nathaniel evidnetly had moved from the north side of
the James to th e south by 1624, and was living on the
south side at Charles City. N athaniel later patented
land on the south side of the Appomatox River .
Before May 1638, he had already establishhhed himself
at the fall s on the south side of the river.
It is believed that Nathaniel returned to England and
was married bac ause on 25 July 1638, he patented 100
acres on the Appomatox, “sout h into the woods, north
upon the river and east upon a creek partin g the land
from his own 500 acres, and west upon the river and
the la nd of John Baker”. Nathaniel claimed righht to
this land for transpo rting his wife, Ann Tatum, and
daughter, Mary Tatum. The 500 acres h ad been
assigned to him the day before, by Thomas Causey, and
